Huge Sea Lion Attacks Fisherman And Bites Dog After Being Accidentally Caught In A Fishing Net In Russia

When you accidentally catch an adult sea lion in a fishing net, make sure that you quickly distance yourself from the animal after you've cut the net to set it free. If you don't do this and you are within reach of the animal, you run the risk of being bitten or worse thrashed by the seal. Seals are marine predators. They are known to prey on other seals and otters. They have sharp teeth that can cut through bone and flesh. You want to keep your body intact? Then stay out of biting distance.

A fisherman in Russia has learned the hard way the fact that sea lions sometimes attack people and they do so violently. A group of Russian fishermen were trawling on the North Pacific when they accidentally netted a huge sea lion. The animal was probably trying to steal some of the fish caught in the net when it got itself trapped there. The fishermen brought the seal aboard their fishing vessel. Using a knife, one of the men cut a portion of the net to free the sea lion.

As soon as the animal got its head off the net, it quickly lounged for one of the fishermen and clamped its powerful jaws on the arm of one of the fishermen. The seal was so powerful it was able to fully lift the man off the deck and throw him to the side. Luckily, the man was wearing a thick and long-sleeved jacket which acted as protection against the seal's sharp teeth.

A black dog which was aboard the vessel also tried to scare the sea lion off the ship but the latter didn't budge. It even bit the dog on the shoulder but the dog was able to shrug it off and rightfully scampered away. The fishermen were able to drive the sea lion away using a water hose. As the sea lion quickly retreated to the back of the fishing vessel, the men continued to fire away with the water hose.

The sea lion still showed some resistance by facing the water cannon and even tried to get back to the middle of the vessel. The men continued to hose it with water so it eventually backed away. It wasn't shown in the video but reports say that the animal was finally driven off the ship.

The sea lion in the video has been identified as a Steller sea lion, a specie that makes the northern Pacific home. Their numbers have significantly declined in recent decades and they are now considered a near-threatened species. Among the several species of seals, they are one of the largest, only inferior in size compared to the walrus and elephant seals.

Killing sea lions is strictly prohibited in Russia, Canada, and the United States. The laws against the killing of sea lions partly arose because some fishermen intentionally kill them because they are looked upon as competitors in catching fish.

A Very Rare White Albino Crow Caught And Filmed In Mindanao, Philippines

There's a very popular idiomatic expression among Filipinos that goes "Kapag pumuti na ang uwak (When crows turn white)." It's an expression to assert the impossibility of something ever occuring. It's very similar to the English idiom, "When pigs fly."Well, this Filipino idiom runs the risk of losing its relevance after the establishment of the fact that white albino crows do exist.

A man from the southern province of Lanao del Norte in the Philippines has in fact filmed one. Freddie C. Puerto captured a thirty-second footage of a rare white albino crow in barangay Maranding in 2012. However, it was only last year (2013) that he uploaded the video on his Facebook page. The clip has since captured a lot of attention. As of this writing, the video has generated over 20,000 shares.

White crows are indeed very rare but they've been recorded and documented almost in every country where they are part of the local bird population. Their white colors are due to a congenital disorder called albinism. This is caused by problems with pigment production. The disorder has also been documented in other birds like the kookaburra.

White albino crows are also often distinct from each other. A full albino bird would have pink beaks, pink feet, and either pink or red eyes. In other instances, the bird may have white feathers but may still retain the black coloring on its beak, eyes and face.

So the next time somebody uses the idiom, "Kapag pumuti na ang uwak" on you, you should show him or her this video of an albino crow.

Son Films His Father Turn A Chunk Of Wood Into A Beautiful Work Of Art

For years, videographer Phil Holland has enjoyed listening to his father Alan talk about his passion - woodturning, a form of woodworking that makes use of a lathe to create wooden objects. Through the years, Phil was a witness to his father's immense fascination with his brand of art.

He saw Alan reclaim pieces of wood that other people have discarded for being imperfect. Alan would then turn these imperfect pieces of wood into perfect pieces of art.

As a professional videographer, Phil has always thought of documenting his father's work process. He got the chance to do so during one of his visits to his father's place. He filmed Alan create a classic wooden bowl from a rough cut of wood. Watch Alan create the piece below.

Alan has been a professional woodworker for most of his life; over 40 years to be exact. Even with a weakening vision due to advancing age, Alan continues to thrive at his craft. His son Phil is a professional videographer and you can see more of his work on his website.

Blood-Thirsty Orcs Star In A Short Film Inspired By The Lord Of The Rings Saga

Advances in video technology and the decreasing costs of related equipment have allowed independent filmmakers and small film-making outfits to produce films that look and sound as if they've been backed by millions of dollars in funding.

With limited budgets and resources, they create epic works that are not only stunning but make you crave for more. The YouTube channel CorridorDigital has done exactly this with their slew of creative and visually-engaging videos.

CorridorDigital's latest masterpiece is a short live-action film featuring Orcs, Middle Earth magic, and a ton of fight scenes that equal if not surpass the scenes in director Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings series. Amazing make-up, decent acting, well-executed choreography, and beautiful cinematography.

This short piece has all the ingredients of an epic film. Unfortunately, it's only about eight minutes long. If you are a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien's books or Peter Jackson's movie adaptations of said books, this short is something you can appreciate.

The geniuses behind this short film are Sam Gorski and Niko Pueringer. They wrote and directed it based on an upcoming video game called Shadow of Mordor which is scheduled to be released by the end of this month. The game is set in the Lord of the Rings universe and the player will roam an open world as Talion, a ranger who has magical abilities.

The short film was sponsored by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment so you could say it's a glorified advertisement. However, advertisement or not, it sure was a lot of fun to watch. Now, if only they could turn it into a feature-length motion picture. It's unlikely but as they say, to dream is free.

Freddie Aguilar's Iconic Song 'Anak' Gets An Electronica Treatment From London-Based Band

As one of the greatest Filipino songs ever written and sung, Freddie Aguilar's Anak has been covered countless of times both by local and foreign artists. Most of such covers stay true to the original song; that is it's sung as a sad ballad. Well, this has changed as a London-based band turned the song upside down with an electronica treatment.

It's a bit weird hearing the song and then developing the urge to stand up and dance when all your life you've listened to it often with a heavy heart. Who would've thought that one of the saddest songs ever written can be turned into a likable beat-driven electronica song.

The band behind the catchy cover is Ooberfuse, an electronica group based in London, England and composed of Hal St. John, Cherrie Anderson and Kinky Roland. For more information about the band, check out there website or connect with them on Facebook. Watch their cover of Anak below. Further down is the original by Ka Freddie.

Aguilar's most well-known tunes include Anak, Alaala, Ipaglalaban Ko, Bayan Ko, Pulubi, Ina, Kumusta Ka, Magbago Ka, Buhay, Sa Kuko ng Agila, and Estudyante Blues. Although Aguilar hasn't released new songs for quite some time, he still performs live every now and then in big and small concerts.

Mongoose Successfully Fights Off And Escapes From Four Mature Lions

When somebody mentions a mongoose, the instant image that appears in our mind is that of a cat-sized creature with an elongated head bravely battling a poisonous snake, say a cobra, and then eating it. After all, a mongoose is most well-known for its appetite for snakes.

Apparently, mongooses have much bigger balls than we originally thought. Proof of this is footage taken by photographer and videographer Jerome Guillaumot from the Masaai Mara National Park in Kenya. Guillaumot documented a mongoose not allowing several lions to make him a snack.

A solitary mongoose can be seen bravely standing its ground against four lions that are intent on turning the poor mongoose into a mid-day snack. The lions keep on surrounding and chasing the mongoose but the little animal which is under two feet tall was able to fend them off. Growling and snapping its teeth, the mongoose was finally able to safely make its way back to its hole in the ground. The footage was taken back in 2011.

Mongoose trivia:If you are a fan of the English writer and novelist Rudyard Kipling, a fictional mongoose character is featured in one of the stories in his classic book The Jungle Book. The animal was also featured in the novel The Lair of the White Worm by Bram Stoker.

Dog Dressed Up As A Giant Spider Is Used To Scare People In Poland By Pranksters

Imagine walking down an empty corridor one night and you come across human limbs covered in what looks like spider web dangling from the concrete ceiling. Just when the fear starts crawling through your skin, you hear the sound of footsteps behind you. You turn your head and behold! There's a gigantic mutant spider heading right into your direction. What would you do? Run of course! Who in their right mind would wish to be near such a despicable creature.

A prankster based in Poland who goes by the name SA Wardega on YouTube brought this scene to reality when he dressed up a dog as a giant spider and had it roam the streets in a city there. To make the experience more frightening, Wardega set up props within the vicinity where the dog roamed. These props include human hands and legs wrapped in webs dangled in subway ceilings. Sure, it was scary for the hapless victims of the prank. Fortunately for us internet folks, we can only watch them and laugh our heads off.

The dog in the prank has a name. Her name is Chica and you can learn more about her on her Facebook page. For more pranks by Wardega, check him out on YouTube. They have a collection of awesome pranks there that you can watch over and over again. Pranks that the Wardega team took a lot of time to set and pull off. Aside from unsuspecting citizens, their prank victims also include cops and more.

Snake Turns Into A Zombie After A Man Cut Off Its Poisonous Head

If there's one thing you should know about poisonous snakes, it's the fact that they are rather hard to kill. Just because you've cut off a snake's head doesn't necessarily mean you are safe around it. Even when a snake's head has been separated from its main body, it is still capable of responding to stimuli for as long as an hour. It can still lash out and bite. So don't even think of poking your fingers at a severed snake's head.

YouTube user Sam Billiter came across a copperhead once and cut off its head. Much to his surprise, the body just kept on wiggling. When the wiggling tail touched the severed head, the head suddenly snapped open its jaws and clamped down its poisonous fangs upon its own body. As was mentioned earlier, the decapitated head is still capable of responding to stimuli. Billiter captured the incident on video and you can watch it below.

A severed snake head is still more than capable to kill anybody. As you can see from the video below, the copperhead still has its jaws snapping even though the head has been totally separated from its body. This is because of the snake's bite reflex. Even though a snake is dead, the bite reflex can still be in there moments after it has died.

Beautiful And Mind-Blowing Screenshots Of Himalayan Environments From The Upcoming Game "Far Cry 4"

Video games sure have come a long way. Leaps and bounds in gaming technology have allowed developers to come up with environments that continue to look more and more real. Take for instance the slew of screenshots that have been released for the upcoming action-adventure game Far Cry 4.

The texture of everything from the blades of grass to the skins of elephants are just a few hairs away from looking too real. You don't have to be an avid gamer to appreciate how amazing they look. Truth be told, the screenshots will make you want to purchase a gaming console just so you can experience the environments yourself.

Far Cry 4 is the fourth installment in the Far Cry series. It's scheduled to be released by the end of this year. It's a single-player game that revolves around a character named Ajay Ghale, a Nepalese who has been away from home for too long. Upon his return to his home country, he finds himself in the middle of a civil war. Ghale is left with no choice but to help free his people from a painful struggle under a brutal regime. Ender The Cat Knows How To Use The Toilet. Unfortunately, He's A Bad Marksman.

Cats can definitely be taught or learn on themselves to perform acts that are attributed only to humans. Like using the toilet bowl when pooping. YouTube user Wellfalcon was recording on video her cat Ender when she caught the white cat trying to poop on the toilet bowl the way humans do. Standing on the rim of the bowl with his hind legs while his front legs are pushed up against a nearby wall, Ender can be seen doing his business.

Unfortunately, it was bad business as his refuse ended up landing not on the bowl but on the bathroom floor. His owner screamed in disbelief and rightly so. Even Ender seemed to have been surprised by his bad marksmanship. He tried to cover up what he did but with no success. Moral of the video? Get your cat a litter box. Don't think of training it to poop like you do. Besides, cats being cats, they might not bother flushing their business down.

Still, it's quite amazing to see a cat attempt something like this. Ask any cat owner, it's almost next to impossible to teach a cat to do a trick. To train it to poop like a human being is simply amazing.

Watch The Full Fight Video Of Ana Julaton's Bout With Ann Osman In Dubai

Former boxing champion Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton had her second mixed martial arts fight last August 29 at the World Trade Centre in Dubai for One Fighting Championship 19: Reign of Champions. Julaton who competes in the flyweight division faced Ann Osman of Malaysia who was also fighting for the second time in MMA. The bout went the full distance. At the end of three five-minute rounds, Osman was declared the winner via split decision.

The bout opened with Julaton landing punches to Osman's head and body. Sensing that she can't win a stand-up battle, Osman secured a takedown and worked on her ground and pound. She also attempted several submission attempts. The bell rang at the end of the first round with Osman still working on a submission attempt.

The second round was all Osman as she again took the fight to the ground. Nearing the end of the round, Julaton was able to reverse the position but she wasn't able to do meaningful damage. Julaton had her moments early in the third and final round when she landed hard punches on Osman's head which rocked the Malaysian. Osman again secured a takedown and did more damage with several submission attempts.

If you weren't able to see the fight, One Fighting Championship has uploaded the full fight on their YouTube channel. You can watch the bout in its entirety below.

Man Tapes A Laser Pointer To His Cat's Head. Hilarity And Merriment Ensues!

Because they are natural hunters, cats love laser pointers. According to Pet Adviser, the fast-moving red dot satisfies a cat's hunting instincts. For a lot of cat owners, a laser pointer is a must-have. There's much fun to be derived from seeing a kitten endlessly chase the red dot. This particular man got creative and decided to tape the laser pointer on his cat's head. The effect is hilarious. The confused look on the cat's face because of the perpetual presence of the fiery dot in front of him is priceless.

However, before you start playing with lasers with your cat, there are some things you need to know. It might not be helpful to your cat. In fact, it might frustrate, confuse, and agitate your cat to the point that it will start acting aggressively against you or other cats. With that said, leave the lasers alone. There are other toys that you can give your cat to have fun with.

If you have a pet dog, playing lasers on them can be harmful as well. As Healthy Pets points out, lasers can drive a dog nuts. Dogs can get very obsessed with chasing the laser light that they will develop behavior problems.

Man Peels Six Apples In Under A Minute With A Power Drill

Peeling an apple with a knife isn't much of a hassle if you're peeling one or two for your own consumption. But what if you need to peel dozens of apples? It could take you hours to get the job done. The employees of this restaurant got really tired of peeling apples with knives so they improvised. With a peeler and a power drill, buckets of apples can be peeled in mere minutes.

The man below demonstrates exactly how the peeling process is done. It's like using a peeler, only this time it's 100 times faster with the help of the power drill. Six apples in under a minute? Not bad at all. The employees of this restaurant aren't the first ones to make use of this trick. A few months ago, a Dutch chef named Jasper van Ramshorst momentarily went famous online when a video of him peeling apples with a power drill went viral.

You should be extra careful though should you attempt to try this at home. Clearly, the man in the video works in a restaurant so he has probably done this hundreds of times. If you are going to try it, it's highly recommended that you make use of a drill very similar to the one featured in the video. It's small and lightweight so it can be easily handled using just a single hand.

John Malkovich Is A Movie-Loving Vampire In Funny Television Commercial For Canal Play

Actor John Malkovich never played a vampire in the dozens of movies he has appeared in. He did appear in a horror film called Shadow of the Vampire but his character wasn't a vampire. It is a shame because the man is a massively-talented actor and his weirdness would've translated very well into the big screen if he ever played a blood-drinker. The French video service company Canal Play may have seen this missing aspect of Malkovich's resume that they came up with a commercial wherein the actor played a vampire.

And it's awesome. Portraying a vampire banker who spends most of his time watching movies, Malkovich suits the character very well. Here's to hoping that some movie executive sees the commercial and gets inspired to come up with a feature film starring Malkovich as a vampire. Because those fangs look perfectly on him. Malkovich is currently playing the feared pirate Blackbeard on the NBC television series Crossbones.

Malkovich is one of the most talented actors of his generation. He has appeared in memorable films like The Killing Fields, Death of a Salesman, Empire of the Sun, Dangerous Liaisons, Of Mice and Men, In the Line of Fire, Con Air, Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Burn After Reading.

Adorable 5 Year Old Girl Doesn't Want Her Baby Brother To Grow Up

Sadie, a 5 year old girl from Phoenix, Arizona doesn't want her baby brother Carson to grow up. In a video that went viral online when it was uploaded on YouTube, the adorable girl is seen crying out loud while hugging Carson and kissing the baby's head. "I don't want him to grow up!" she exclaimed while tears flowed out of her eyes. While her big sister cries her heart out, Carson sat beside her, looking up at her and smiling at one point.
Sadie too doesn't want to die when she gets to a hundred. Don't we all? In an email sent by Ryan Miller (Sadie's father) to Time, Sadie "cried about not wanting to get older herself in the past, but this was the first time she was upset about her brother." He adds, "The funny thing is that this was totally out of the blue — we have no idea what prompted it."

Cocoa Farmers In The West African Nation Of Ivory Coast Taste Chocolate For The First Time

The West African nation of Ivory Coast is the world's largest exporter of cocoa beans. In the manufacture of chocolate, cocoa beans are the main ingredients. With that said, you'd think that Ivory Coast would be flooding with chocolate products. However, this doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, a lot of the people there haven't even tasted a bar of chocolate. They have no idea that the cocoa beans they are exporting in massive quantities are used to manufacture chocolate products.

In the following video clip taken from a segment of Metropolis TV, the host visits cocoa farmers and have them taste chocolate for the very first time. It still feels weird that people who produce the main component of chocolates have never tasted the product.
What's even weirder is that some of the farmers think that their cocoa beans exports are used to create wine. As one of the men quipped, they were told of this when they were young.

Pitbull Puppy And Human Baby Cuddle Together. It Doesn't Get Any Cuter Than This.

Babies are cute and so are puppies. Put them together and the cuteness overloads. Brandi Leigh Hodges of North Carolina in the United States has taken a beautiful video of her pit bull puppy cuddling with her baby daughter Eisleigh. The puppy which the family named Clyde is shown in the footage slowly jumping on the baby's crib and nestling beside her. It's one of those moments where you'd go awww and wish of having a pit bull puppy.
It's a beautiful video that will surely help in taming down the rather nasty reputation associated with pit bulls. Eisleigh's family has also taken several photos of the baby and puppy hanging out. You can see some of them here.

Baby Bear Gets A Brighter Future After Being Rescued From A Bear Bile-Harvesting Farm In China

When Smudge was born at a bear bile-harvesting farm in Nanning, China, it would only be a matter of time before the farm staff gets to him. The farm kept bears referred to as bile bears or battery bears. They are kept in captivity so that their bile can be harvested, often using extraction methods that are brutal and painful. The harvested bile is sold and used as an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine and household products.

Fortunately for baby bear Smudge, a few months after he was born, the farm was taken over by Animals Asia, an international non-government organization that's devoted to "ending the barbaric practice of bear bile farming and improving the welfare of animals in China and Vietnam." Smudge's future turned from bleak to bright.
A change of heart
There are several people to thank for the positive change in Smudge's fate. Utmost is the farmer who owned the farm. After breeding bears and extracting their bile for years, he had a change of heart. He decided to allow Animals Asia to take over the care and custody of the bears. This was after he was convinced by his daughter about the cruelty of the trade. Animals Asia is now leasing the farm and the facilities and they've turned it into a bear sanctuary instead of a bear bile-harvesting farm.

How you can help
Animals Asia now have over 130 bears to take care of. Because of the size and scale of the rescue, the organization is going to need all the help it can muster. That's why it launched the Peace by Piece campaign to seek support for the rehabilitation of the bears. Learn more on how you can donate to the cause here.

Here's Smudge having the time of his life. Out of his cage. Free. And hopefully will soon be able to be released to the wild.

If You Are Going To Watch Anything On Father's Day, Let It Be This

What does fatherhood means to you? The personal care brand Dove asked this question from a thousand men. Most of the men surveyed said that it's about being there when a son or a daughter calls for you. This role is perfectly portrayed in the following film montage created by the company. A great watch for Father's Day.
